MADRID.- Un hacker británico sospechoso de ser el principal experto en ciberseguridad del grupo yihadista Estado Islámico ha muerto en un bombardeo ejecutado por un avión no tripulado estadounidense en Siria, según fuentes conocedoras del ataque.
Estas fuentes han identificado al sospechoso como Junaid Hussain, un antiguo residente en la ciudad inglesa de Birmingham. El página web CSO Online ha apuntado que el ataque tuvo lugar el martes cerca de la localidad de Raqqa.
Fuentes de los gobiernos de Estados Unidos y Reino Unido afirmaron este mismo año que Hussain era el presunto líder de CyberCaliphate, un grupo de hackers que en enero atacaron la cuenta de Twitter del Pentágono, si bien no habría estado involucrado personalmente.
En 2012, fue encarcelado por un periodo de seis meses por robar la agenda del exprimer ministro británico Tony Blair de una cuenta controlada por uno de sus asesores. Hussain se declaró culpable de publicar la información y de hacer llamadas amenazantes a una línea telefónica sobre amenazas terroristas.
La muerte de Hussain es la segunda de un importante cargo del Estado Islámico en los últimos ocho días, después de que el número dos del grupo, Hayi Mutazz, muriera en un bombardeo cerca de la ciudad iraquí de Mosul.
