Un mes después de de las protestas en Bratislava contra la política migratoria de la Unión Europea, el Gobierno de Eslovaquia ha sido tajante al negarse a aceptar a los refugiados sirios. sólo hace una excepción para los que sean cristianos, ya que los musulmanes, según las autoridades, no pueden integrarse en la sociedad.
"Queremos ayudar a Europa con el problema de los refugiados. Podríamos aceptar a 800 musulmanes, pero en Eslovaquia no tenemos mezquitas. ¿Cómo podrán integrarse (en nuestra sociedad) si no les gustara aquí?", aseguró ayer el portavoz de la Cancillería eslovaca, Ivan Metik, a la BBC.
El plan de la Unión Europea para la integración de los refugiados que huyen del conflicto armado en Siria contempla la repartición de 40.000 sirios entre distintos países de la UE según un sistema de cuotas. A Eslovaquia le corresponde recibir a 200 refugiados que actualmente están en campamentos en Italia, Turquía y Grecia.
La profesión religiosa de los refugiados se determinará mediante una encuesta, y las autoridades en Bratislava insisten en que esta decisión no tiene carácter discriminatorio y busca mantener unida la sociedad.
Además de Bratislava, se han observado protestas contra la política migratoria de la UE en ciudades como París y Berlín.
