El líder libio, Muamar el Gadafi, ha comparado hoy en un audio difundido por la televisión estatal libia la entrada de Franco en Madrid durante la guerra civil española con la que él pretende llevar a cabo esta noche en Bengasi. 'Vosotros sois la quinta columna en la ciudad', ha dicho dirigiéndose a los habitantes de Bengasi, que considera sus hipotéticos partidarios, y ha señalado que se apoyará en ellos en este día 'en el que liberarán la ciudad'.
En su discurso, Gadafi también ha amenazado con 'grandes bombardeos' en Bengasi si los rebeldes no se rinden antes de esta madrugada. 'Estás son las últimas horas de esta tragedia, llegaremos esta noche y no tendremos compasión', ha advertido.
Las palabras de Gadafi se producen pocas horas antes de que el Consejo de Seguridad de las Naciones Unidas vote un borrador de resolución que autorizaría la creación de una zona de exclusión aérea sobre Libia y permitiría a los países árabes y otros, en cooperación con la ONU, proteger a los civiles libios, incluyendo la ciudad de Bengasi, en poder de los rebeldes.
Si se adopta implicaría tomar 'todas las medidas necesarias para proteger a los civiles y las zonas pobladas bajo la amenaza de ataque en (Libia), incluyendo Bengasi, mientras que excluye una fuerza de ocupación'.
Además, el Comité de Defensa libio, equivalente al Ministerio de Defensa, ha advertido que 'cualquier acto militar' contra Libia 'pondrá en peligro las actividades aéreas y marítimas en el Mediterráneo', según un comunicado difundido por la agencia oficial Jana.
Los barcos o aviones que crucen el Mediterráneo, 'sean civiles o militares, serán objeto de ataque defensivo', amenazó el comunicado del régimen de Trípoli.
