El secretario de Estado estadounidense, John Kerry, ha pedido este miércoles en París al ministro ruso de Asuntos Exteriores, Sergéi Lavrov, conversaciones directas entre Moscú y Kiev sobre Ucrania, informaron medios franceses.
Ambos se reunieron en la capital francesa, donde participaron en una conferencia sobre el Líbano, y se mostraron juntos con otros ministros de Exteriores en una conversación relajada en el exterior del Palacio del Elíseo, sede de la presidencia francesa.
Kerry había declarado previamente que Rusia tiene obligación de respetar la soberanía de Ucrania y de evitar que se perjudiquen sus derechos. También dijo que el memorándum de Budapest de 1994, por el que Ucrania entregó su arsenal nuclear a cambio de que se garantizase su independencia e integridad territorial, indica que los firmantes, entre ellos Rusia, tienen la "obligación de abstenerse de la amenaza del uso de la fuerza contra la integridad territorial o la independencia política de Ucrania".
Kerry agregó que por lo tanto "hay obligaciones legales muy claras que están en riesgo" en relación con la situación de Ucrania. El secretario de Estado estadounidense pronunció estas palabras acompañado del ministro británico de Exteriores, William Hague, y del jefe de la diplomacia ucraniana, Andréi Deschitsa, antes de la reunión en la que se le pudo ver con Lavrov.
