NUEVA DELHI.-Los primeros 37 españoles, incluido un bebé, en ser evacuados de Katmandú (Nepal) tras el terremoto que asoló ese país han llegado esta noche a Nueva Delhi (India) en un vuelo comercial de la compañía Spice Jet, según anunciaron fuentes diplomáticas españolas.
Igualmente, el Airbus 310 de la Fuerza Aérea Española enviado desde el aeropuerto de Nueva Delhi hacia la capital nepalí ha aterrizado ya en el aeródromo de Katmandú y se espera que regrese a la India una vez hayan embarcado otros 78 españoles, incluido un bebé.
En este avión español llegado a Katmandú viajaban 28 británicos, dos trabajadores de Naciones Unidas y dos belgas del equipo de intervención que iban en un avión del Reino Unido que tuvo que volver a India al llegar al aeropuerto nepalí y no poder aterrizar por falta de espacio, informó el ministro de Exteriores.
Este martes llegará a la capital india en torno a las 10.00 (hora local) otro avión de la compañía Spice Jet con entre 70 y 80 españoles, con lo que el ministro de Exteriores, José Manuel García-Margallo, espera dar por finalizada la operación de evacuación de los españoles.
El jefe de la diplomacia española reveló que una española —de unos 48 años— ha muerto esta mañana en Katmandú. Exteriores ya tiene localizados a 349 españoles en Nepal y busca a otros 118, cuyo paradero se desconoce.
García-Margallo agradeció la "intervención directa" y la "generosidad" del primer ministro indio, Narendra Modi, para ayudar al despegue del Airbus 310 y para conseguir que los españoles vuelen en Spice Jet, una gestión que también agradeció al director general de la compañía india.
Según el protocolo establecido, entre 50 y 52 españoles volverán el martes a España en el Airbus 310 en el que viajará el ministro, en tanto que el resto serán repatriados a España en el avión que el Gobierno —a través de la Agencia de Cooperación Española (AECID)— ha fletado con ese objetivo.
"Las noticias son buenas", destacó García-Margallo, quien señaló que con el resto de españoles que vayan apareciendo según se restablezcan las comunicaciones se les irá repatriando en vuelos comerciales.
