La tensión entre Corea de Norte y del Sur ha vuelto a subir de tono. Las fueras militares surcoreanas han respondido al lanzamiento de varios proyectiles norcoreanos que impactaron en aguas del mar Amarillo, cerca de la frontera marítima entre ambos países vecinos, según informaron fuentes citadas por la agencia Yonhap.
El incidente se produce un día después de que Pyongyang estableciera la zona prohibida para la navegación hasta el 29 de marzo. Por ese motivo Corea del Sur ha intensificado su vigilancia en previsión de un posible lanzamiento de misiles de corto alcance por parte del régimen comunista norcoreano o bien parte de una maniobra militar rutinaria.
Fuentes del Estado Mayor de Seúl ha comunicado que ambas partes han disparado al aire y que no se han producido víctimas ni daños materiales y tampoco se ha producido una violación de la frontera marítima por parte de Corea del Norte.
Pyongyang prohibió ayer el paso de barcos a cuatro kilómetros al sur de la controvertida frontera marítima Línea del Límite del Norte (NLL) en el Mar Occidental, creada al final de la guerra de Corea (1950-1953), por las tropas de la ONU lideradas por EEUU..
Según fuentes militares surcoreanas citadas por Yonhap, Corea del Norte realizó alrededor de las 9.05 hora local (00.05 GMT) varios disparos hacia la frontera marítima en las aguas del Mar Occidental donde Pyongyang había declarado el martes la prohibición del paso de barcos.
Los disparos de artillería se produjeron al norte de la frontera marítima, aunque la zona de exclusión fijada por Corea del Norte se adentraba en aguas de Corea del Sur reclamadas por Pyongyang. Corea del Sur convocó una reunión urgente de seguridad nacional a la que asistirá el ministro de Defensa, Kim Tae-young, y el de Unificación, Hyun In-taek, entre otros.
