El autor confeso de un atentado el pasado junio en Francia, Yasin Salhi, que decapitó a su jefe antes de tratar de hacer saltar por los aíres una planta química de Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, a pocos kilómetros de Lyon, se suicidó anoche en prisión.
Marcel Duredon, responsable del sindicato penitenciario FO en la cárcel en la que este se encontraba, la de Fleury-Mérogis, indicó este miércoles en la cadena "BFM TV" que el preso se colgó de la ventana de su celda. Una semana antes, según sus declaraciones, "hubo ciertos elementos en su actitud que llamaron la atención de los vigilantes".
Arrestado cuando trataba de abrir bombonas de acetona para provocar una gran explosión, Salhi, empleado de una empresa de paquetería, de 35 años y padre de cuatro hijos, colocó el día de los ataques banderolas con inscripciones musulmanas junto a la cabeza de la víctima.
Los servicios secretos franceses ya le habían vigilado entre 2006 y 2008 por sus vínculos con medios radicales, que volvieron a detectar de forma puntual entre 2011 y 2014.
Su atentado, la primera decapitación registrada en Francia, provocó numerosas críticas a la acción del Ejecutivo socialista, a quien se le reprochó entonces no haber tomado mayores medidas de seguridad.
Un diputado del partido conservador Los Republicanos en la región del Ródano, Georges Fenech, subrayó este miércoles tras conocerse el suicidio la necesidad de hacer "un esfuerzo considerable en materia de vigilancia", lo que en su opinión requiere un mayor número de personal y plazas de prisión.
