Castilla y León se ha resistido hasta ahora al efecto Zapatero. El presidente del Gobierno no ha logrado aún ser profeta en su tierra -es un leonés al que nacieron en Valladolid-. Pero está decidido a conseguirlo al segundo intento.
De Zapatero fue la elección de su amigo y paisano Ángel Villalba, al que sacó de la Universidad para intentar relanzar el socialismo castellano-leonés, mortecino desde que en 1986 Demetrio Madrid dimitió como presidente de la comunidad autónoma por un presunto delito, del que sería absuelto, como propietario de una pequeña empresa del sector textil.
Para lograr lo que Villalba no consiguió en ocho años, ha depositado ahora su confianza en Óscar López Águeda, cuya carrera política está enteramente ligada al zapaterismo.
Asesor del Grupo Socialista en el Parlamento Europeo entre 1997 y 2000, José Blanco le incorporó a la Secretaría de Organización como uno de sus principales colaboradores y, a sus 34 años, echa a volar solo para convertirse en la esperanza blanca del socialismo castellano-leonés.
Diputado por Segovia y portavoz en la Comisión de control de RTVE, durante los últimos cuatro años ha ejercido, por delegación de Blanco, como auténtico secretario de Organización del partido, lo que le confiere un perfecto conocimiento de la situación interna.
El partido le recibe con los brazos abiertos, pero tendrá que ganarse el apoyo de los ciudadanos de una Comunidad heterogénea y socialmente desestructurada. Ya ha empezado a patear el territorio, con entusiasmo.
