Los diputados de la oposición han renunciado a participar en la votación del Pleno del Congreso de la tramitación ultrarrápida que el PP ha impuesto para acelerar la entrada en vigor de los nuevos límites de la justicia universal, con los que se archivarán causas abiertas en la Audiencia Nacional como la muerte del periodista José Couso en la Guerra de Irak que se achaca a militares estadounidenses o el genocidio en el Tibet, por el que se han cursado órdenes de detención de mandatarios chinos.
El PP fue el único grupo que apoyó la aprobación de la reforma en lectura única (en una sola sesión plenaria, sin pasar por ponencia y comisión). Sólo recabó el voto del diputado de UPN, Carlos Salvador, socio electoral del PP.
Pero también fue el único grupo que participó en la votación, ya que el resto decidió levantar las manos o, en el caso de Izquierda Plural, directamente abandonar el hemiciclo. "No vamos a participar en esta farsa", fue la frase más repetida por los portavoces de la oposición.
Pese al plante y la escasa participación (179 sobre más de 300 diputados presentes), el trámite exprés logró el aval del Pleno del Congreso con lo que el PP seguirá con su propósito de aprobar la reforma el próximo jueves, en una nueva sesión plenaria a continuación del Debate sobre el estado de la Nación.
