El vicesecretario de Organización y Electoral del PP, Carlos Floriano, ha convocado este martes una reunión del comité de campaña del partido para dar un impulso a la campaña electoral ante las elecciones europeas del mes de mayo.
En un momento en que las encuestas pronostican una bajada de escaños para el Partido Popular en esos comicios, la dirección nacional del PP quiere poner toda la carne en el asador e implicar al mayor número posible de dirigentes del partido.
La propia secretaria general del PP, María Dolores de Cospedal, ha asegurado en más de una ocasión que hay que "bajar al terreno" y afrontar las elecciones europeas como unos comicios municipales. "Estas elecciones tienen que territorializarse y hacerse municipio por municipio y alcalde por alcalde", dijo hace un par de semanas en la Convención Nacional del PP de Valladolid.
Con esa movilización territorial, Génova busca además frenar la abstención que pronostican las encuestas y movilizar a su electorado más fiel. En 2009, la abstención fue del 54%.
Hace cinco años, los populares cosecharon un total de 6,61 millones de votos (42,23% y 23 escaños), superando al PSOE, que obtuvo 6,03 millones de sufragios (38,51% y 21 escaños).
Carlos Floriano es el coordinador general de campaña y cuenta con un equipo de más de treinta personas. Esteban González Pons es coordinador adjunto del programa electoral mientras que Juan Carlos Vera es coordinador adjunto de organización. Por su parte, Vicente Tirado ocupa el puesto de coordinador adjunto electoral y Carmen Navarro es la gerente de la campaña.
