El presidente de la Asociación Española de Banca (AEB), Miguel Martín, advirtió hoy de que algunas entidades que vayan a recibir inyecciones públicas de capital pueden encontrarse el problema de tener que devolverlas al Estado antes de que estén saneadas.
En su opinión, si el Gobierno quiere reducir el déficit público hasta el 3 por ciento del PIB en 2012 para cumplir con el Pacto de Estabilidad europeo, podría demandar a las entidades el dinero que les haya prestado.
Sin embargo, esto podría producirse antes de que dichas instituciones de crédito lograsen tener beneficios y superar todas las dificultades.
Durante su intervención en un curso sobre la crisis organizado por la Asociación de Periodistas de Información Económica (APIE) y el BBVA, Martín consideró que si se inyecta dinero público, el Estado debe poder mandar.
Eso sí, las inyecciones de capital para no interferir en la competencia deben limitarse a las entidades que requieren una reestructuración profunda, con el objetivo de que se fusione con otra y pierda su independencia.
Martín coincidió con el Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) en que cerrar una entidad es muy costoso y debe ser la última de las decisiones, por lo que sugiere que se fusionen porque ello posibilita la reestructuración.
El presidente de la patronal bancaria elogió el esfuerzo del Gobierno por reducir el déficit público, pero lamentó que no haya dicho cómo espera conseguirlo y advirtió de que "hay que tener una estrategia de salida creíble", subrayó Martín.
