La presidenta de Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre, se ha mostrado "sorprendida" de que el Congreso del PP haya decidido que el presidente del partido sea automáticamente también candidato a la presidencia del Gobierno, porque "no estaba en el texto original de la ponencia ni en ninguna enmienda".
A su llegada a la segunda sesión del XVI Congreso nacional del PP que se celebra en Valencia, Aguirre ha declarado que ha conocido esta mañana, a través de la prensa, este acuerdo alcanzado a última hora de la noche de ayer en la ponencia de estatutos y, después de manifestar varias veces su "sorpresa", ha dicho que tiene "estudiar, reflexionar y pensar" sobre él.
La presidenta de la Comunidad y del PP de Madrid no se ha querido pronunciar acerca del polémico saludo que ayer se intercambiaron el presidente de honor del partido, José María Aznar, y el presidente actual, Mariano Rajoy, si bien ha dicho que el cariñoso abrazo que le dio a ella ex presidente del Gobierno se debe a que ambos son "amigos" y a que ella es "una admiradora" suya.
También ha dicho que no le sorprendía que la ponencia política rechazara anoche la enmienda que defendía la secretaria de Organización Territorial del PP de Madrid, Cristina Cifuentes, a favor del derecho de las parejas del mismo sexo a contraer "matrimonio", porque, según ha manifestado a Efe, "yo tampoco estoy de acuerdo con que no se llame así" a este tipo de uniones.
Aguirre ha reiterado que el discurso del hasta hoy secretario general de PP, Ángel Acebes, le pareció "magnífico" y ha añadido que "la prueba es que hoy está en todos los medios de comunicación ponderado".
