Al menos 11 personas murieron hoy y otras 23 resultaron heridas en un atentado suicida perpetrado con un coche bomba en Kirkuk, 250 kilómetros al norte de Bagdad, informaron a Efe fuentes del Ministerio de Interior.
Según la fuentes, el suicida empotró su coche contra un minibús, que transportaba a trabajadores y guardias de seguridad de la Compañía de Petróleo del Norte de Irak, en la plaza de la Gran Celebración, en pleno centro de Kirkuk.
Entre los heridos hay niños y mujeres y miembros de una patrulla policial, que escoltaba al minibús.
Las fuentes agregaron que tres coches particulares resultaron destruidos por el estallido, que también causó daños materiales en locales comerciales y viviendas cercanas.
Kirkuk, rica en petróleo, es reclamada por la Administración de la región autónoma del Kurdistán, que la considera su capital histórica y desea incorporarla a su territorio, lo que rechazan frontalmente las comunidades árabes y turcomanas que habitan en esa ciudad.
Tras meses de calma relativa, Irak ha vuelto a ser en la última semana escenario de ataques que se han cobrado las vidas de decenas de personas en distintos puntos del país.
Entre los atentados más graves se encuentra el cometido hace cuatro días en la ciudad meridional de Iskandariya, donde nueve personas murieron y otras 32 resultaron heridas al ser atacado un cuartel mixto de milicianos tribales y del Ejército iraquí.
Además, el viernes pasado, cinco soldados estadounidenses fallecieron en otro atentado contra una base conjunta del Ejército de EEUU y de la Policía iraquí en Mosul, en el norte de Irak, en el que murieron también dos militares iraquíes.
