Los nueve gobiernos de la Alianza Bolivariana de los Pueblos de Nuestra América (ALBA) anunciaron hoy en un comunicado que se movilizarán "ante el intento de golpe de Estado" denunciado por el presidente hondureño, Manuel Zelaya.
El comunicado, fechado el jueves, pero difundido hoy, expresa el "más firme respaldo" a Zelaya "en sus justas y decididas acciones por defender el derecho del pueblo hondureño a expresar su voluntad soberana y a impulsar un proceso de transformación social en el marco de la institucionalidad democrática".
Una vez conocidas "las serias denuncias de desestabilización e intento de golpe de Estado formuladas por el presidente legítimo" hondureño, agrega el comunicado, "declaramos que nos movilizaremos".
Se tratará de una movilización "junto al digno pueblo hondureño, ante cualquier intento de la oligarquía de quebrantar el orden constitucional y democrático de esa hermana República centroamericana", añade la nota.
Ecuador, San Vicente y Las Granadinas, y Antigua y Barbuda ingresaron el pasado miércoles como miembros plenos de la ALBA, ya integrado por Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica y Honduras, varios de cuyos gobernantes expresaron el jueves de forma individual su apoyo a Zelaya.
Zelaya declaró el jueves que "ha sido superada en una forma totalmente pacífica" una crisis que se agravó en las últimas horas cuando la Corte Suprema suspendió la decisión presidencial de destituir al jefe del Ejército, el general Romeo Vásquez.
El jefe militar fue destituido por negarse a cumplir instrucciones del Ejecutivo para que los militares dieran apoyo logístico a la consulta que impulsa Zelaya para que los electores decidan el próximo domingo sobre la celebración de un referendo sobre una reforma constitucional que permitiría la reelección del presidente.
