El alcalde accidental de Estepona (Málaga), Rafael Montesinos (PA), espera que se elija un nuevo regidor "a muy corto plazo" para que la gestión de la administración local "no sufra ninguna demora" y ha calificado como "triste" la trama de corrupción destapada ayer en la ciudad.
Tras la detención del alcalde socialista, Antonio Barrientos, y cuatro concejales del PSOE en la operación "Astapa", Montesinos ha asegurado hoy a los periodistas que se adoptarán "las decisiones oportunas acatando los preceptos legales para volver a la normalidad lo antes posible".
Ha aclarado que "no todos los políticos del Ayuntamiento están implicados en esta causa" y sobre la posibilidad de convertirse en alcalde, ha añadido: "todos los candidatos quieren ser alcaldes, yo por supuesto que sí, pero todo esto es futuro y ya veremos".
Montesinos, que es concejal de Turismo, ha pedido cautela y prudencia ante la "gravedad" de la situación, y ha insistido en que lo prudente sería "esperar a que la Justicia se pronuncie y se depuren las responsabilidades" para esclarecer esta trama "que está empañando el buen nombre de Estepona".
