El alcalde de Elche, el socialista Alejandro Soler, está previsto que declare hoy como imputado ante el juez de instrucción número 4 de la ciudad en relación al presunto pago de inserciones publicitarias de actos del PSPV-PSOE con dinero del ayuntamiento.
A raíz de una querella presentada por el PP ilicitano, Soler ha sido imputado por los supuestos delitos de malversación de caudales públicos y prevaricación.
La querella fue interpuesta el pasado 25 de febrero por la portavoz municipal del PP, Mercedes Alonso, y otros once miembros de este grupo por el presunto pago de unos 6.000 euros de dinero municipal en la campaña electoral local del PSPV-PSOE, en la primavera de 2007.
En la documentación se indicaba que se había utilizado dinero público para sufragar a los socialistas pagos al grupo del periódico gratuito Prensa y Noticias en la precampaña y campaña electoral de las municipales de 2007.
Tras esa primera querella, los populares han aportado más facturas que atribuyen a gastos partidistas a cargo del erario público.
Por su parte, los socialistas han mantenido desde el primer momento que se han tratado de "errores administrativos" y que el equipo de gobierno siempre ha cumplido con la legalidad.
