Actualizado:
La asamblea del Comité Olímpico Español (COE) ha ratificado en el cargo de presidente a Alejandro Blanco con 141 votos a favor, 10 en blanco y ninguno en contra.
Blanco era el único candidato en las elecciones celebradas hoy en Madrid en una asamblea extraordinaria del COE.
Alejandro Blanco (Orense, 1950) accedió a la presidencia del organismo en septiembre de 2005, cuando derrotó en las elecciones de ese año a Mercedes Coghen por 101-84. Hasta entonces era presidente de la Federación Española de Judo.
En las elecciones del COE los presidentes de federaciones olímpicas disponen de cuatro votos y el resto de miembros, de uno.
