Por el amor de Dios ¡escriban en un blog!, dijo el sábado Benedicto XVI a los sacerdotes, a la vez que enfatizaba que aprenda a utilizar nuevas formas de comunicación para propagar el mensaje del Evangelio.
En su mensaje por el día mundial de las comunicaciones de la Iglesia Católica, el Pontífice de 82 años, que no se conoce que sea un gran aficionado a los ordenadores o Internet, reconoció que los religiosos deben sacar el mayor provecho del "rico menú de opciones" ofrecido por las nuevas tecnologías.

Los sacerdotes, agregó, tienen que responder al desafío de "los cambios culturales de hoy", si quieren llegar a los jóvenes. Pero Benedicto XVI advirtió a los religiosos de que no intenten convertirse en estrellas de los nuevos medios.
"Los sacerdotes presentes en el mundo de las comunicaciones digitales deberán ser menos notables por su inteligencia mediática que por su amor al oficio religioso", indicó.
Tras varias décadas de recelo a los nuevos medios, el Vaticano ha decidido lanzarse de lleno. El año pasado, lanzó una nueva página web (www.pope2you.net) en la que ofrecía una aplicación llamada "The pope meets you on Facebook" ("El Papa se reúne contigo en Facebook") y otra que permite a los fieles ver los discursos del líder religioso en sus iPhones o iPods.
Benedicto XVI aún escribe a mano la mayoría de sus discursos en alemán y son sus asesores más jóvenes los que suben su material a la Red.
El Pontífice aborchornó al Vaticano el año pasado, cuando admitió que si la Iglesia hubiese navegado más en Internet, podría haberse enterado de que un obispo tradicionalista, cuya excomulgación fue exaltada, había negado el Holocausto durante años.
