El proyecto de declaración final de la cumbre sobre seguridad alimentaria de la FAO que se celebra en Roma ha sido aprobado hoy por el Plenario con los viejos compromisos de eliminar el hambre del mundo y de no utilizar los alimentos como un instrumento político y económico.
La declaración cuenta, sin embargo, con la objeción de Argentina y las duras críticas de Venezuela y Cuba, que consideran que en el documento no se adoptan medidas reales para acabar con el hambre en el mundo.
A esas críticas se unieron, tras la aprobación del proyecto, Ecuador, Nicaragua y Bolivia, después de lo cual el presidente del plenario cortó la palabra a las delegaciones.
La representante ecuatoriana dijo que "son muchos los países que no están de acuerdo" con el proyecto de declaración, pese a lo cual ninguno impidió que el documento fuera aprobado por todos los participantes, con la excepción de Argentina que ha hecho objeción al texto completo.
En la declaración, los líderes de los países que participan en la cumbre se comprometen nuevamente a eliminar el hambre del mundo y a no utilizar los alimentos como un instrumento político y económico.
