El grupo instrumental bcn216 rinde hoy su personal homenaje al prolífico compositor y guitarrista autodidacta estadounidense Frank Zappa (1940-1993) con un concierto comisariado especialmente para la ocasión por el Auditori.
La formación residente del Auditori interpretará en un único concierto una selecció de las piezas para orquesta compuestas por Zappa, según ha informado el auditorio de Barcelona.
Bajo la dirección de Ernest Martínez Izquierdo, sonarán la música contemporánea, el rythm'n'blues, la electroacústica, la psicodelia y el doo-woop de Zappa.
La bcn216 interpretará, entre otros, temas como "Revised music for low butget orcherstra"; "The dog breath variations/uncle meat"; "Get whitey"; "Outrage at valdez"; "G-spot tornado"; "The beltway bandits" o "Be-bop tango".
Con una discografía de más de 80 discos de rock, jazz, electrónica, música clásica y música experimental, Frank Zappa continúa siendo una referencia para muchos artistas.
Guitarrista y compositor autodidacta, la aproximación de Zappa al pop y el rock, en solitario o al frente de "Mothers of Invention" fue tan iconoclasta como sus relecturas de la música orquestal y el jazz.
