Rita Barberá, alcaldesa de Valencia, aseguró que hoy el fallo de la División de Apelación del Tribunal Supremo de Nueva York, que considera legítimo al Club Náutico Español de Vela (CNEV) es "positivo" porque abre la posibilidad de que la ciudad pueda volver a ser sede de la Copa del América.
Tras conocer la noticia, la alcaldesa manifestó su satisfacción por esta resolución, que conoció a través del concejal de Deportes, Cristóbal Grau.
"Con ella se abre la posibilidad de que Valencia sea sede de una nueva edición convencional de la Copa del América como la que tuvo lugar en 2007", afirmó Barberá.
Grau también consideró "muy positivo para Valencia" el fallo judicial del Tribunal neoyorquino y se felicitó por la decisión, independientemente de la decisiones que puedan adoptar los dos equipos implicados, Alinghi y BMW-Oracle.
"Debemos felicitarnos porque Valencia puede albergar una nueva edición de la Copa de América tan exitosa, o más, como fue la 32 para la ciudad, la Comunitat Valenciana y para España", apuntó.
