El Banco de Japón (BOJ) comenzó hoy en Tokio una reunión de dos días para estudiar los tipos de interés, aunque los analistas esperan que los mantenga en su actual nivel del 0,1 por ciento.
La presión deflacionaria que vive la segunda economía del mundo hará que la entidad emisora nipona no decida modificar los tipos de interés en la reunión que concluirá mañana martes su comité monetario, según la agencia local Kyodo.
En su último encuentro de 2009, el BOJ explicó que mantendría su actual política monetaria para ayudar a que Japón recupere el crecimiento y deje atrás la deflación.
Está previsto que mañana, al término de esta reunión, el gobernador del banco central japonés, Masaaki Shirakawa, ofrezca una rueda de prensa para explicar la decisión tomada.
En su encuentro de diciembre, el BOJ decidió mantener los tipos de interés en el 0,1 por ciento y advirtió de que la deflación supone un "desafío crítico" para la economía y es necesario regresar a la senda del crecimiento con estabilidad de precios.
El Banco de Japón apuntó que el ritmo de recuperación será "moderado" hasta la primera mitad del año fiscal 2010, que comienza en abril, y que la política monetaria debe apoyar el impulso de la demanda y la recuperación del crecimiento.
