Banesto cerró el conjunto de 2009 con un beneficio atribuible de 559,8 millones de euros, un 28,2 por ciento menos que en el mismo período del año anterior debido al incremento de las provisiones, dijo el jueves el banco.
"Con el fin de seguir fortaleciendo la situación patrimonial del Grupo, se han destinado a provisiones las plusvalías extraordinarias obtenidas en 2009 y se han realizado provisiones adicionales por un importe total neto de 377 millones de euros", dijo el banco.
Los analistas esperaban un descenso del beneficio en torno al 26 por ciento hasta 577,2 millones, según un sondeo entre nueve analistas.
La filial de Santander dijo el jueves que su margen de intereses subió un 9,6 por ciento a 1.730 millones de euros, mientras que su margen neto de explotación se elevó un 7,4 por ciento a 1.564 millones.
Analistas habían pronosticado un margen de intereses de 1.731,9 millones de euros, mientras que para el margen de explotación pronosticaban 1.560,4 millones de euros.
La morosidad del banco a finales de diciembre se situó en el 2,94 por ciento (2,59 por ciento a finales de septiembre y el 1,62 por ciento a finales de 2008).
El total de los activos dudosos ascendió a casi 2.492 millones de euros frente a unos 1.396 millones de euros en 2008 y la cobertura con provisiones (1.524 millones de euros) se redujo al 63,4 por ciento desde el 105,4 por ciento en diciembre de 2008.
La inversión crediticia bajó un 2,9 por ciento a 75.927 millones de euros, mientras que los recursos totales gestionados subieron un 0,1 por ciento a 67.996 millones y los recursos de clientes en balance bajaron un 1,9 por ciento a 57.075 millones de euros.
