Las bolsas europeas cerraron el viernes a la baja, con lo que certificaron su caída semanal más amplia en cerca de tres meses, mientras los valores bancarios se vieron perjudicados por el plan del presidente estadounidense Barack Obama para frenar la asunción de riesgos en el sector financiero.
El índice FTSEurofirst 300 de los principales valores europeos se dejó un 1,03 por ciento provisionalmente al cierre hasta los 1.025,39 puntos, lo que supone su tercera sesión consecutiva en negativo.
El selectivo cedió un 2,6 por ciento esta semana, su caída semanal porcentual más grande de cerca de tres meses.
"Todo tiene que ver con los bancos. El trasfondo aquí es que no tenemos ni idea de cómo va a ejecutarse el plan bancario, si finalmente lo hace", dijo Peter Dixon, economista en Commerzbank.
"Esto sucede cuando los mercados están todavía inestables. Los mercados van siempre a vender cuando hay incertidumbre. Creo que esto es la historia de hoy y será para la próxima semana", añadió.
Los bancos fueron los más perjudicados del índice después de que Obama diese a conocer el jueves unas duras propuestas para limitar la toma de riesgos en el sector bancario y restringir algunas de las operaciones bancarias más lucrativas.
Credit Suisse, Barclays, UBS y Deutsche Bank se dejaron entre un 3,9 y un 6,4 por ciento.
Los valores de energía se encontraron también bajo presión debido a que el precio del crudo cayó un 0,6 por ciento. BP, Royal Dutch Shell y Total se depreciaron entre un 0,8 y un 1,7 por ciento.
