El presidente de EEUU, George W. Bush, comenzó hoy una ronda de reuniones en Londres que culminará con una entrevista con el primer ministro británico, Gordon Brown, para coordinar estrategias en Irán e Irak, entre otros asuntos.
Bush inició hoy su jornada con una reunión a puerta cerrada con el ex primer ministro y actual enviado del Cuarteto para Oriente Medio, Tony Blair, para tratar sobre la situación en esa región y las perspectivas de llegar a un acuerdo entre israelíes y palestinos antes del fin de su mandato.
A continuación se dirigirá al número 10 de Downing Street para tratar con Brown acerca del programa nuclear iraní, la presencia de tropas estadounidenses y británicas en Irak, la ronda de Doha de negociaciones comerciales y el cambio climático, entre otros asuntos.
Bush y Brown, que ya se vieron la pasada noche en una cena social junto a sus esposas, Laura Bush y Sarah Macaulay, ofrecerán tras su encuentro una rueda de prensa.
A continuación, el presidente estadounidense se reunirá con el líder del Partido Conservador británico, David Cameron, antes de emprender viaje a Belfast para conmemorar el décimo aniversario de los acuerdos de paz de Irlanda del Norte, en los que EEUU desempeñó un papel mediador decisivo.
Durante su estancia en Belfast, Bush se reunirá con las autoridades norirlandesas y visitará una escuela primaria para niños católicos y protestantes.
