La consejera de Cultura de la Junta de Castilla y León, María José Salgueiro, ha elogiado al mismo nivel tanto la faceta humana como la calidad literaria del escritor leonés Antonio Pereira, fallecido hoy en su domicilio de León como consecuencia de un paro cardiaco, a punto de cumplir los 86 años.
"Era un escritor magnífico y una persona absolutamente entrañable. Tenía un gran humor y viveza", ha manifestado a Efe la consejera, quien ha recordado la reciente institución de la Fundación Antonio Pereira como una de las últimas ocasiones que tuvo de departir con el narrador, promovida por la Universidad de León y el Gobierno regional.
"Lo más conocido de su obra son los relatos cortos, los cuentos, donde nos ha dejado en palabras escritas la increíble capacidad y brillantez que demostraba en sus conversaciones", ha concluido la consejera acerca del escritor que entre sus galardones posee el Premio Castilla y León de las Letras 1999.
