La crisis económica ha traído consigo este curso un aumento de las matriculaciones en la Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED). Este centro ha batido su record de alumnos, con un ascenso de matrículas del 12% respecto al año anterior. La dificultad para encontrar empleo parece representar una motivación especial para la población en paro, que dispone además de más tiempo para mejorar su formación.
"Son sobre todo autónomos que ahora tienen menos trabajo", precisa la vicerrectora de la UNED, Encarnación Sarriá. El rector, Juan Antonio Gimeno, añade otro factor: "Demográficamente, nuestro potencial alumnado sigue siendo elevado". Gimeno destaca sobre todo el aumento de estudiantes para el curso de acceso a la universidad para mayores de 25 años, que ha pasado de 16.000 matrículas a 25.000.
Los cursos para mayores de 25 años y la formación de los Centros de Enseñanza de Idiomas han sido las propuestas más demandadas entre los alumnos matriculados este curso en la UNED.
En la Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), cuyo plazo de matrícula se abre cada seis meses, no han notado de momento un ascenso reseñable de matriculaciones.
