Redmond O'Neal, el hijo de los actores Farrah Fawcett y Ryan O'Neal, obtuvo permiso para salir hoy de la cárcel tres horas con el fin de asistir al funeral de su madre, que murió la pasada semana.
El oficio religioso se llevará a cabo en la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Los Ángeles a las 23.00 GMT.
Fawcett, a quien se le diagnosticó un cáncer en septiembre de 2006 falleció el pasado 25 de junio a los 62 años de edad después de prolongados tratamientos químicos y cirugía en Estados Unidos y Alemania.
Redmond O'Neal, de 24 años, fue condenado en 2008 por posesión de heroína y metanfetaminas, pero recibió el beneficio de la libertad vigilada.
Sin embargo, en septiembre pasado la policía hizo una inspección en la residencia de su padre, Ryan O'Neal, donde él vivía, y encontró metanfetaminas, por lo que fue enviado a la cárcel.
Un tribunal autorizó este lunes a Redmond, que participa en lo que el Departamento de Policía de Los Ángeles describe como "un intenso programa de rehabilitación para adictos a las drogas", a salir de la cárcel hoy por tres horas y asistir el funeral, acompañado en todo momento por un policía.
Las autoridades permitirán que el joven use su ropa en lugar del uniforme de la cárcel del condado.
