Decenas de familias iraquíes conmemoraron el aniversario del nacimiento del difunto dictador Sadam Husein, que hoy habría cumplido 72 años, con una ceremonia en su mausoleo en su aldea natal Al Auya, en la provincia septentrional de Salahedín.
Con motivo de esta ocasión, se han adoptado medidas especiales con el despliegue de fuerzas del Ejército y de la Policía iraquíes, en previsión de cualquier emergencia, especialmente, en las proximidades de Al Auya, explicó a Efe una fuente de los servicios de seguridad de Tikrit, capital de Salahedín.
Varias decenas de familias, entre ellas niños y mujeres, acudieron hoy al mausoleo, donde también descansan los restos de otros seis dirigentes del régimen anterior.
El gobernador de Salahedín, Ahmed Karim al Isawi explicó que la jornada en la provincia transcurrió con normalidad y que no se registró ningún suceso violento, ni grandes concentraciones de personas.
Antiguamente, antes de la invasión estadounidense de Irak en marzo de 2003, se celebraba el cumpleaños de Sadam con grandes fastos que duraban varios días y que suponían un gasto de millones de dólares.
En las celebraciones, participaban las autoridades locales y conjuntos artísticos de dentro y fuera de Irak.
Sadam Huseín nació el 28 de abril de 1937 y en 1979 asumió la presidencia de Irak, país que gobernó con mano de hierro hasta que fue derrocado el 9 de abril de 2003.
Ocho meses después fue capturado y tras su juicio fue ejecutado el 30 de diciembre de 2006, tras ser declarado culpable por un tribunal especial de estar implicado en el asesinato de 148 personas en una aldea chií al norte de Bagdad.
