El Producto Interior Bruto (PIB) creció en doce comunidades autónomas en 2011, especialmente en Canarias (1,7%), Balears (1,6%) y Navarra (1,4%), mientras que bajó en otras cinco, sobre todo en Extremadura (0,9%), según la Encuesta de Contabilidad Regional de España del INE. Según esos datos, la media de crecimiento en 2011 en España fue del 0,4%.
Tras Canarias, Balears y Navarra, el PIB creció más en Castilla y León (1,1%), La Rioja (0,9%) y Euskadi (0,8%). También crecieron Catalunya (+0,6%), Comunidad de Madrid (+0,6%) y Cantabria (+0,5%). Por debajo del crecimiento de la media nacional, se situaron Aragón (+0,3%) y Ceuta (+0,1%).
Por el contrario, el PIB de Andalucía no registró variación respecto al año anterior (0,0%) y los mayores descensos se produjeron en Extremadura (0,9%), y Castilla-La Mancha (0,4%), además de en la ciudad autónoma de Melilla (0,6%). A los descensos de Extremadura, Melilla y Castilla-La Mancha, se unieron los del País Valencià (-0,2%), Asturias (-0,1%) y Galicia (-0,1%).
En cuanto al PIB por habitante del año 2011, Euskadi ocupó la primera posición, con 31.508 euros per cápita, seguido de la Comunidad de Madrid (29.845 euros), Navarra (29.640 euros) y Catalunya (27.236 euros). En cambio, Extremadura, con 15.771 euros por habitante, y Andalucía, con 17.337 euros, fueron las comunidades que cerraron la lista.
La media nacional, por su parte, se situó en 23.054 euros, y la de la Unión Europea alcanzó los 25.200 euros por habitante. De esta forma, siete comunidades autónomas (Euskadi, Madrid, Navarra, Catalunya, Aragón, La Rioja y Balears) superaron la media nacional, casi las mismas que superaron la media comunitaria, con la excepción de Baleares.
En términos relativos, el PIB per cápita del País Vasco fue un 34,7% superior a la media nacional en 2011, y el de las comunidades de Madrid y Navarra un 29,5% y un 28,6% superiores, respectivamente. En el extremo opuesto, el PIB por habitante de Extremadura se situó un 31,6% por debajo del registro nacional y el de Andalucía fue un 24,8% inferior.
La estadística del INE ofrece también datos de la renta disponible bruta por regiones pero del año 2010. Los hogares de Euskadi fueron los que tuvieron una mayor renta disponible por habitante, con 20.034 euros, cifra un 33,9% superior a la media nacional (14.959 euros). Por el contrario, los registros más bajos correspondieron a Extremadura, con 11.541 euros por habitante, un 22,8% menos que la media nacional.
