El británico Bernie Ecclestone, presidente de la Organización de Fórmula Uno (FOM), ha declarado en el circuito de Shanghái que espera renovar el contrato con los organizadores del Gran Premio de China, que finaliza el próximo año.
Ecclestone ha manifestado que "estaremos aquí siempre. Es una carrera fantástica, todo está bien aquí y demuestra al mundo lo que podemos hacer en China".
Sin embargo el presidente de la FOM cree que las empresas chinas deben hacer más para apoyar el Gran Premio, que este año ha perdido el patrocinador principal, que era la petrolera Sinopec.
Ecclestone cree que las empresas locales no han sabido sacar todo el partido que puede ofrecer la Fórmula Uno y afirma que "es un poco decepcionante que no esté apoyado por más empresas locales".
"Son muchas empresas, sobre todo las que exportan, que pueden tener un escaparte en todo el mundo. En China nadie se preocupa por nombres de marca, y es una buena oportunidad para que se conozca su nombre fuera".
