El consejero delegado de Microsoft, Steve Ballmer, espera que los usuarios particulares a los que les guste Windows 7 ayuden a activar la adopción corporativa del nuevo sistema operativo.
Ballmer, que desveló la última versión del software bandera de Microsoft en un abarrotado evento en Nueva York el jueves, necesita que las empresas adopten Windows 7 tras el fracaso de su predecesor Vista para conquistar el lucrativo mercado empresarial.
"Los empleados van a venir diciendo, 'quiero el Windows 7, lo tengo en casa", dijo Ballmer a Reuters Television en una entrevista en el lanzamiento el jueves.
"La combinación de esos factores y la productividad que da a la gente en el trabajo definitivamente serán un propulsor".
Muchas compañías tienen instalados en su ordenadores el antiguo sistema operativo Windows XP tras saltarse el Vista, que tuvo problemas iniciales de compatibilidad con otros programas y dispositivos.
Windows 7, que ha sido recibido con análisis en su mayor parte positivos, podría ser un catalizador para que particulares y empresas actualicen y compren nuevos ordenadores, dijo Ballmer, dependiendo del curso de la economía.
Es "difícil de predecir por la economía", declaró. "Pero desde luego es la oportunidad de animar a las corporaciones a actualizar sus ordenadores, de que las familias actualicen o incluyan o un segundo o tercer ordenador. Soy optimista, pero tenemos la economía".
Ballmer promocionó los nuevos PC con Windows 7 como la opción económica frente a máquinas de Apple generalmente más caras.
"Son particularmente asequibles en esta economía y desde luego si miramos a nuestro competidor número uno, la capacidad de financiación es una ventaja real para el PC con Windows 7 frente a alternativas basadas en Macintosh".
