La exposición 'descalzas Reales: el legado de la Toscana', organizada por Caja de Ávila y la Fundación del Patrimonio Histórico de Castilla y León desde el pasado 18 de abril la visita de 5.700 personas en el Palacio de los Serrano, ha informado en nota de prensa dicha Fundación.
El espacio cultural de Caja de Ávila acoge hasta el próximo 29 de junio esta muestra que incluye 22 lienzos florentinos del siglo XVII, 'escondidos' durante 400 años en el monasterio de las Descalzas Reales, de Valladolid.
Estas obras han salido a la luz gracias a la labor de recuperación realizada por la Fundación del Patrimonio Histórico de Castilla y León, integrada por las seis cajas de la Comunidad y la Junta, que ha restaurado este importante legado pictórico durante algo más de un año.
Se trata de una de las colecciones más completas de pintura florentina del primer tercio del siglo XVII que se conserva en España, a raíz del regalo que los grandes duques de Toscana realizaron a la reina Margarita de Austria, fundadora de este convento vallisoletano, coincidiendo con la presencia de la Corte en Valladolid.
Desde entonces, estos cuadros habían permanecido en el monasterio durante cuatro siglos, siendo desconocidos para el gran público, pero no para los expertos.
Antes de llegar a Ávila, esta exposición había sido vista por 52.000 personas en Segovia, Burgos, León y el monasterio de las Descalzas Reales de Valladolid, donde inició su periplo el pasado verano.
