El escritor, periodista y cronista oficial de León Victoriano Cremer ha fallecido hoy a los 102 años en un hospital de la capital leonesa a consecuencia de un complicado cuadro médico general propio de su avanzada edad.
Crémer, nacido en Burgos en 1907, aunque afincado desde niño en León, se encontraba ingresado en el complejo hospitalario de León desde hace varios días, según han informado hoy a Efe fuentes familiares.
El poeta y periodista, que mantenía en el Diario de León la sección "Crémer contra Crémer", que mañana verá la luz con su último artículo, obtuvo el Premio Nacional de Poesía en 1963 y el Premio Castilla y León de las Letras en 1994, y entre sus obras figuran "Nuevos cantos de vida y esperanza", "Libro de Caín", "Tiempo de Soledad" o "El último jinete", por la que mereció el Premio de Poesía Jaime Gil de Biedma de 2008.
Medalla de Oro al Mérito del Trabajo en 2007 y Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes en 2009, en la década de los 50 Cremer estableció contacto con el grupo de poetas de la revista "Espadaña", de gran compromiso social, en plena posguerra, y de la que llegó a ser director, tras salir de la cárcel.
"Morir es una costumbre que suele tener la gente (...) la cama vacía es lo que queda después de haber vivido", confesaba el centenario creador cuando en noviembre de 2008 recogió en Segovia el Premio Gil de Biedma.
El Ayuntamiento de León, a través de un comunicado de prensa, ya ha manifestado su pesar por la muerte del que fuera uno de los más ilustres embajadores de la ciudad, de la que era cronista desde 1976.
