La película española "Bajo las estrellas" del director Félix Viscarret, será una de las 26 películas de 23 países europeos que se exhibirán en la quinta edición del festival de cine europeo Eh!U de Toronto.
El festival Eh!U, organizado por la Unión Europea (UE), es de carácter gratuito y proyectará también el filme austríaco "The White Ribbon" que obtuvo la Palma de Oro durante la última edición del Festival de Cannes.
El cónsul honorario de Suecia en Toronto, Lars Henriksson, que este año coordina el Festival Eh!U dado que Suecia ostenta en la actualidad la presidencia europea, destacó durante un acto celebrado hoy en la ciudad canadiense el alto nivel cinematográfico de la muestra.
Dijo que "durante esta edición se mostrarán muchas películas ganadoras de premios y nominadas para los premios de la Academia de Artes y Ciencias Cinematográficas de EE.UU."
El diplomático sueco también señaló que "el quinto aniversario es un enorme hito a medida que el festival ha encontrado su lugar en la apretada agenda de los festivales de Toronto".
La ciudad canadiense, que es denominada en ambientes cinematográficos norteamericanos como el "Hollywood del Norte" por la gran cantidad de películas que se ruedan cada año en sus calles, es hogar también de decenas de festival de cine.
El más importante es el Festival Internacional de Cine de Toronto que este año celebró su XXXIV edición y que se ha convertido en una de las tres principales muestras cinematográficas del mundo.
Además, Toronto es sede de Hot Docs, el festival de documentales más importante de Norteamérica.
