El Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI) ha elevado sus previsiones de crecimiento del 1,9 al 2,4 por ciento para 2010, según un informe divulgado hoy por medios de comunicación en Estados Unidos.
La revisión está contenida en un documento preparado para la reunión de ministros del Grupo de los Ocho (G-8) que tendrá lugar en Lecce (Italia) el viernes y sábado y que, al parecer, el Fondo ha distribuido entre los participantes en la reunión.
El organismo multilateral no quiso confirmar oficialmente esas nuevas proyecciones divulgadas por la prensa.
En abril, el FMI recortó sus previsiones de crecimiento por el retraso en restablecer el buen funcionamiento del sistema financiero.
Entonces auguró que la economía mundial sufrirá este año una contracción del 1,3 por ciento, la mayor desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
Para 2010, el FMI pronosticó en abril una recuperación "lenta" por la continuación de los problemas en el sistema financiero.
No obstante, las cosas han mejorado desde entonces, como demuestra la disminución de las primas de riesgo en los préstamos interbancarios a corto plazo y en los bonos corporativos y municipales estadounidenses, que indican una mayor confianza de los inversores.
Por su parte, el Banco Mundial (BM) vaticinó hoy que la economía global se contraerá un 3 por ciento este año, cuando hace sólo dos meses había estimado un 1,75 por ciento, y que en 2010 se registrará un "repunte" del crecimiento.
"Aunque se espera que el crecimiento repunte en 2010, el ritmo de la recuperación es incierto y los pobres en muchos países seguirán viéndose afectados" por las consecuencias de la crisis, alertó el presidente del BM, Robert Zoellick, en el comunicado.
