Ford Motor publicó el jueves un beneficio de 2.700 millones de dólares (unos 1.840 millones de euros) para 2009, su primer año con números verdes desde 2005, y dijo que espera beneficios para
2010 en medio de una mayor participación de mercado y la lenta recuperación de ventas en Estados Unidos.
La firma atribuyó las ganancias para todo el año en parte a los recortes en los costes, los beneficios por los esfuerzos de la reducción de deuda, los firmes resultados de su brazo financiero Ford Motor Credit y una tasación más fuerte.
Para el cuarto trimestre, Ford informó de un beneficio de 868 millones de dólares, o 0,25 dólares por acción, frente a la pérdida del año anterior de 6.000 millones de dólares o 2,51 dólares por acción. Los ingresos aumentaron a 35.400 millones de dólares desde 29.000 millones de dólares.
El beneficio operativo sin contar los ítems extraordinarios fue de 0,43 dólares por acción. Sobre esa base, los analistas esperaban de media beneficios de 0,26 dólares, según Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
Ford, la única gran automotriz estadounidense que no se reorganizó bajo una quiebra apoyada estatalmente en 2009, ganó participación en el mercado estadounidense el año pasado en medio de los problemas de sus rivales Chrysler, ahora bajo el control de la italiana Fiat SpA, y General Motors.
