Al parecer, según el cardenal arzobispo de Valencia, Agustín García Gascó, tanto la familia como la libertad religiosa están en peligro en España. Ayer, en la homilía de la Misa d’Infants, en la que estaban presentes 17 obispos y más de 40 sacerdotes, junto a personalidades como el presidente de la Generalitat, Francisco Camps, y la alcaldesa de Valencia, Rita Barberá, el arzobispo pidió al Estado un “mejor cuidado de la libertad religiosa”. García Gascó también aseguró que todo “intento del Estado de invadir los ámbitos soberanos de la familia sólo encontrará la legítima resistencia” de ésta.
El arzobispo se refirió al debate sobre el aborto que últimamente está tan presente en los medios de comunicación y dijo que es “un fraude utilizar el nombre de la libertad y de la democracia para extender la licencia para matar”.
Además, por si a alguien se le había olvidado la postura de la iglesia al respecto, el arzobispo recordó que todos los seres humanos, “desde el primer instante de su concepción hasta el último día de su muerte, tienen plenos derechos”.
Por otro lado, García Gascó habló también de inmigración. Aunque no hizo la menor referencia al visado para inmigrantes propuesto por el PP, dijo que en Valencia “no caben racismos ni xenofobias”. Y cargó contra “los que se dedican a explotar a las mujeres inmigrantes o las mafias que se aprovechan de su situación”. Estas declaraciones se produjeron ayer, día de la Virgen de los Desamparados, una festividad que se celebra el segundo domingo de mayo desde hace cuatro siglos como una muestra de fervor hacia la imagen, que es trasladada en volandas por la calle.
