Gaz de France (GDF) anunció hoy que ha descubierto un yacimiento de gas natural en el permiso de exploración en el que realiza trabajos de prospección en aguas de Egipto en el Mediterráneo.
El descubrimiento se ha hecho en la licencia de exploración de West El Burullus, que tiene una superficie de 1.364 kilómetros cuadrados en las aguas territoriales egipcias al noreste de Alejandría, precisó GDF en un comunicado.
El grupo gasístico francés recordó que es concesionario de esa licencia, en la que es operador, a una altura del 50% y que el otro 50% está en manos de su socio local Dana Petroleum.
El pasado noviembre, GDF había dado a conocer la adquisición, también en Egipto, de una participación del 45% en otra licencia de explotación de yacimientos de hidrocarburos, Alam El Shawish West, que cubre una superficie de 1.075 kilómetros cuadrados en la cuenca de Gharadig, en el desierto occidental del país, a unos 250 kilómetros al sudoeste de la ciudad de Alejandría.
