El finés Mikko Hirvonen (Ford) fue el más rápido en las dos primeras especiales del último día del rally de Gran Bretaña y recortó doce segundos al francés Sebatien Loeb (Citroen), quien rebajó su ritmo para administrar la amplia ventaja con la que comenzaba la jornada.
Mucho tiene que correr y mucho se tiene que despistar el galo para no conseguir su sexto título consecutivo. Faltan dos tramos por disputar pero, a diferencia de otros días, los pilotos no pasarán por el parque cerrado con lo que son ellos mismos los que tienen que solucionar los problemas que hayan tenido esta mañana y cambiar los reglajes que consideren oportunos para este final de rally.
Hirvonen, ante sus últimas opciones, salió a la desesperada y mientras en el primer tramo marcó el mejor tiempo rebajando en algo más de un segundo su ventaja con Loeb, en el segundo le endosó once.
Ahora la diferencia entre ambos es de 18.2 segundos y mucho se tiene que complicar el galo para no ganar la prueba y no sumar su sexto título.
Por detrás, el español Dani Sordo sigue en la tercera posición y ha visto cómo el noruego Petter Solberg (Citroen) se le acercaba hasta quedarse a sólo 14.6 segundos.
Faltan por disputar dos tramos para que termine la temporada y para conocer el campeón del mundo de Rallys. El último de ellos comenzará a las 11:55 horas, las 12:55 en España.
