Los precios de consumo subieron el 0,1 por ciento en mayo en la zona del euro, pero en relación al mismo mes de 2008 se mantuvieron invariables, algo que nunca había sucedido desde que comenzó a elaborarse este indicador, en 1997.
Eurostat, la oficina estadística comunitaria, confirmó hoy que, tal como anticipó el cálculo adelantado, la inflación en el último año en los países que comparten la moneda única fue nula, frente al aumento del 0,6% acumulado hasta abril.
En España, la inflación interanual se situó en mayo en el -0,9% (es uno de los seis Estados miembros con registro negativo), con lo que el diferencial con sus socios del euro se amplió una décima en relación a abril, hasta nueve décimas.
En el conjunto de la UE, los precios también crecieron el 0,1% el mes pasado, lo que dejó la tasa interanual en el 0,7%, seis décimas menos que en abril.
