La situación en Trípoli continúa tensa después de dos días de enfrentamientos intermitentes entre la comunidad suní, partidaria de la mayoría parlamentaría, y la alauí, simpatizante de la oposición, que ya han causado seis muertos y 44 heridos, según una fuente de la policía.
Después de que el alto el fuego decretado ayer por las autoridades políticas y religiosas de esta ciudad libanesa fracasara, el ministro de Interior libanés, Ziad Barudi, acompañado por el jefe de la Policía, el general Achraf Rifi, se trasladaron anoche a Trípoli para intentar poner fin a los combates.
los enfrentamientos continúan produciéndose esporádicamente entre los barrios de Beb Tabane, de mayoría suní, y Yabal Mohsen, de mayoría alauí, donde estallaron la tarde del jueves tras la explosión de tres granadas, añadió la fuente.
Ante la persistencia de la situación, el presidente Michel Sleiman ha pedido a Barudi, así como al ministro de Defensa Elias Mur y al jefe interino del Ejercito Chauki Masri que "adopten las medidas necesarias para poner fin a la degradación de la situación y establecer un alto el fuego", según un comunicado de la presidencia.
