El piloto inglés Jenson Button (Brawn GP001) ha ganado el GP de Turquía de F1, séptima prueba puntuable para el mundial de F1, mientras que el español Fernando Alonso (Renault R29), que salía octavo en la parrilla de Estambul, cruzó la meta en la décima posición.
Con este triunfo, el sexto del inglés esta temporada, Button amplía un poco más su ventaja al frente de la clasificación, en la que se encuentra con 61 puntos, mientras que su compañero de equipo, Rubens Barrichello, retirado en la carrera, se mantiene segundo con 35.
El alemán Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull RB5), 'pole' en los entrenmientos oficiales, ha acabado tercero al apostar a tres paradas, y y los seis puntos que suma le permiten continuar tercero en la general, ahora con 39 puntos. Su compañero de equipo, el australiano Mark Webber fue segundo y se mantiene cuarto en la general, con 27'5 puntos.
Fernando Alonso ha lamentado que el décimo puesto que ha logrado en el GP de Turquía se haya producido porque su equipo "va despacio". "Estamos dónde esperábamos estar. En carrera no ha pasado nada raro. No ha habido coche de seguridad y no hemos tenido abandonos, ni toques", dijo.
"Sabía que era el más ligero, y esta era la estrategia que elegimos. Cuando acaba la carrera es fácil saber cuál hubiera sido la más acertada", ha agregado. "Yendo tan despacio, no hay nada que hacer. Lo que nos hace falta es ir medio segundo más rápidos", ha señalado un Alonso algo apesadumbrado.
"El coche que estamos usando es el mismo que el de Bahrein, así que cualquier modificación que se le haga, bienvenida sea. El coche va peor cada vez, necesitamos mejorarlo. Hay que seguir insistiendo hasta encontrar lo que lo mejore", desea el piloto español.
