El ex director de la Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID) Juan Pablo de la Iglesia será el nuevo secretario de Estado para Iberoamérica en sustitución de Trinidad Jiménez.
El ministro de Asuntos Exteriores, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, ha dado a conocer el nombramiento de De la Iglesia en la toma de posesión de su sustituta al frente de la AECID, Elena Madrazo, en un acto que ha tenido lugar en la sede de esta institución.
De la Iglesia, que asumió la dirección de la AECID en 2008 después de haber sido secretario general desde 2004, será designado oficialmente en su nuevo puesto el próximo viernes por el Consejo de Ministros.
El nuevo encargado de la política hacia Iberoamérica releva en el cargo a Trinidad Jiménez después de ser nombrada nueva ministra de Sanidad y Políticas Sociales la pasada semana.
