El cantante colombiano Juanes recibirá el Premio La Rioja Solidaridad, en la categoría internacional, por su compromiso con diversas causas sociales.
El consejero de Presidencia, Emilio del Río, ha dado hoy a conocer el galardón, en una conferencia de prensa en la que ha detallado los ganadores de la presente edición de estos Premios, instituidos por el Ejecutivo.
El resto de premiados son la ONG Kaichapa Inti, en la categoría "Entidad Riojana Solidaria"; el matrimonio formado por José Antonio Abad y Beatriz Bañuelos, en "Riojano Solidario", y el proyecto de "Lucha contra la ceguera", liderado por el oftalmólogo riojano Julio Yangüela, en la categoría "Mención Especial Iniciativa Solidaria".
Los galardonados recibirán el premio en el transcurso de la gala "La Rioja Solidaridad" que se celebrará en los próximos días en Riojaforum.
Este premio, de carácter bienal, cuenta con cuatro categorías para poder destacar la labor desarrollada por personas a título individual y/o por entidades, así como ideas innovadoras, en el ámbito de la cooperación internacional y de la promoción de los derechos humanos.
El premio La Rioja Solidaridad consiste en una escultura del artista riojano José Antonio Olarte y una dotación en metálicodestinada en su totalidad a una iniciativa solidaria de la entidad premiada o de la entidad que disponga el galardonado.
