La justicia argentina ha citado a declarar a la presidenta de Banesto, Ana Patricia Botín, por presunta "estafa procesal" en relación a un crédito otorgado hace más de 15 años a Aerolíneas Argentinas, dijo el viernes una fuente judicial.
El juez federal Sergio Torres citó también a dos ex presidentes de Iberia, Xavier de Irala Estévez y Fernando Conte García, para prestar "declaración indagatoria" por la investigación de una denuncia realizada por Aerolíneas Argentinas por un pasivo de 42 millones de dólares.
"Es una estafa procesal. Tiene que ver con el proceso en el cual está ventilándose ese crédito", afirmó la fuente judicial argentina, que prefirió que no se revele su identidad.
Aerolíneas Argentinas fue privatizada en 1990 e Iberia se quedó con la compañía, que en 1993 pidió un préstamo de 42 millones de dólares a Banesto, con Iberia como garante.
Iberia se desprendió luego de Aerolíneas, cuyo control pasó a la compañía estatal española SEPI, pero en 2001 Aerolíneas declaró un concurso preventivo de acreedores y el grupo español Marsans se hizo cargo de la línea aérea.
actualmente en manos del Estado argentino - nunca pagó la deuda a Banesto, pero Iberia canceló el pasivo, por lo que la línea de bandera del país sudamericano acusó de estafa a los directivos de Banesto e Iberia, según medios locales.
La aerolínea española, por su parte, reclama los 42 millones de dólares que habría pagado a Banesto.
"Tenemos conocimiento de la citación, aunque no se ha recibido formalmente. Se tienen que poner en marcha mecanismos jurídicos internacionales y será un proceso de trámites largos", dijo a Reuters un portavoz de Banesto.
A finales del año pasado, el Estado argentino expropió la empresa a Marsans sin compensación, lo que generó un conflicto aún sin solución con la empresa española, a la que el Gobierno de Argentina acusó de mala administración.
