La marca de motos KTM ha anunciado oficialmente su retirada del "Rally Dakar" debido a la limitación a una cilindrada máxima de 450 C.C dictada por la organización de la prueba.
KTM, equipo del actual vencedor del rally en motos Marc Coma, ha asegurado "que la marca no va a estar representada en la carrera sudamericana ni con un equipo oficial ni con escuderías apoyadas directamente por KTM" y anuncia que centrará a partir de ahora sus esfuerzos "en el Campeonato del Mundo y otras pruebas de relevancia".
"Estamos consternados por la falta de lealtad del organizador , especialmente después de los enormes esfuerzos que realizamos a raíz de la cancelación del Dakar en 2008, colaborando al mantenimiento de una nueva edición de la carrera, incluso en un periodo de tremenda crisis económicas", afirma el Consejero Deportivo de la marca Heinz Kinigadner, en unas declaraciones recogidas en la nota.
