Sondhi Limthongkul, uno de los líderes del movimiento contra Thaksin Shinwatra en Tailandia, escapó hoy con magulladuras de un atentado de madrugada en Bangkok que causó heridas leves a dos de sus ayudantes, informó la Policía.
Dos desconocidos abrieron fuego contra su vehículo, y uno de los disparos alcanzó en el hombro a Limthongkul, aunque ya está fuera de peligro.
El popular magnate de medios de comunicación es uno de los fundadores de la Alianza del Pueblo para la Democracia, la plataforma que en 2008 sitió durante cuatro meses la sede del Gobierno y ocupó los aeropuertos de Bangkok para forzar la caída del Ejecutivo, entonces formado por aliados de Shinawatra.
Finalmente, el colectivo logró su objetivo y el Partido Demócrata asumió el poder gracias al apoyo de varios diputados tránsfugas.
El atentado ocurrió tres días después de los rivales de la Alianza, los "camisas rojas" afines a Shinawatra, abandonaran casi tres semanas de movilización para exigir el cese del Gobierno del primer ministro Abhisit Vejjajiva.
Tailandia sufre desde hace tres años una profunda crisis política e institucional por la pugna entre detractores y partidarios del ex jefe del Ejecutivo, depuesto por un golpe de Estado en 2006 y actual prófugo de la justicia.
