El nuevo Gobierno de Israel está convencido de que tiene a Estados Unidos en el bolsillo. Así lo ha dado a entender el titular de Exteriores, el ultranacionalista Avigdor Lieberman, al diario moscovita Moskovsky Komsomolets en la primera entrevista que concede desde su toma de posesión.
"Créame, América acepta todas nuestras decisiones", dijo Lieberman al periódico ruso. El ministro israelí puede estar seguro de lo que dice, puesto que durante el mandato de George Bush la Casa Blanca ha aceptado a ciegas todo lo que le ha pedido Israel, con la consecuencia de que Oriente Próximo ha caído en un pozo sin fondo sin precedentes.
La nueva Administración de Barack Obama ha indicado que piensa impulsar el proceso de paz en Oriente Próximo y el presidente de EEUU incluso se ha dirigido por televisión al mundo árabe para manifestar que la política de Washington cambiará radicalmente.
Sin embargo, esto no preocupa lo más mínimo al Gobierno de Binyamin Netanyahu. Lieberman cree que Obama mantendrá la misma línea política en la Casa Blanca y que Israel seguirá construyendo en las colonias judías que hay en los territorios palestinos.
Obama ha dicho en varias ocasiones desde que llegó al poder que defenderá la solución de establecer dos estados independientes para palestinos e israelíes.
