El número de turistas extranjeros llegados a España en octubre bajó un 5,4 por ciento interanual a 4,8 millones, dijo el viernes el Ministerio de Industria, Turismo y Comercio en base a datos de la encuesta Frontur.
En términos acumulados, llegaron a España en los 10 primeros meses 51,7 millones de turistas, un descenso del 1,4 por ciento sobre el mismo periodo de 2007.
En octubre, entre los principales mercados emisores destacaron los descensos del ocho por ciento de Francia y del 6,8 por ciento de Gran Bretaña, mientras que el mercado alemán subió un 3,8 por ciento.
El descenso de turistas fue acompañado por una caída de los alojamientos hoteleros (-8,8 por ciento).
Cataluña fue la comunidad más visitada en el mes, al recibir 1,1 millones de turistas, aunque sufrió un descenso del 9,5 por ciento sobre octubre de 2007.
En segundo lugar se situó Baleares, con 0,9 millones de huéspedes extranjeros. Su principal mercado de origen, Alemania, creció un 11,6 por ciento en octubre.
